My side x side fridge and freezer is not working due to a power surge from the power line. There is no fan blowing on either side. The fridge is completely warm and the freezer has 4 shelves, the bottom shelve is the only one that is cool and it is now forming ice on the back wall of the last shelve. Is there any hope of it being repaired?
Hi @trulliblessed , Are the lights working in the refrigerator? Is the compressor motor running? Try disconnecting the refrigerator from the power for about 5 minutes and then reconnect it and see if the compressor motor starts operating along with the fans inside the refrigerator, just to see if this “resets” the controls. You may have to listen for the evaporator fan as it stops when a door is opened and starts again when they are shut. Alternatively manually operate the door switch (located in the door jamb) when the door is open and the lights should go off (if they are on) and the fan will start. You should feel the air coming out of the vents in the compartments. The fan will run as long as the compressor is running. If there are no lights and or if there are and the compressor motor in not running then there may be a problem with the control board due to the power surge. Disconnect the power from the refrigerator and then locate where the power cord connects to the board in the refrigerator. Take some close up images of the board and post back here.
