Hi, I opened my laptop at school one day and at certain angles I got intermittent pink vertical bars on my screen. Now it happens almost every time I open my laptop, but sometimes it’ll be normal until I move it. An external monitor works perfectly fine. Also, I noticed that the bars are much more pronounced when my screen is dark, like when using zoom or “dark mode” apps. I took photos of a white screen and a black screen below for comparison. I’m hoping to repair this issue myself as it’s not worth fixing or getting a new laptop (the device requirements for my program push it to 1k). Does anyone know what part of the display is ruined? I assume it’s a cable since it looks normal at some angles.
Hook your machine up to an external monitor and see if you are getting the same results to help narrow down the issue.
Yeah it’s the cable. It doesn’t really matter exactly which part is broken as you’ll need to replace the whole display assembly anyway.
