Chosen Solution
My phone is coming up to 3 years old, and for some reason over the last few hours it has stopped accepting the correct pattern when I enter it on the lock screen, luckily I can still unlock it using my fingerprint, for now. However I am concerned because to reset the pattern I need to enter the current pattern, but of course when I do this I am given the ‘incorrect pattern’ nonsense in the settings, meaning I am unable to change the pattern to a new one. I am also unable to turn on remote unlock on my Samsung account because you also need the pattern to turn that on as well. I don’t really know what to do, I am afraid if I restart my phone I will be locked out for good so that is not something I want to be trying unless it is 100% guaranteed it will fix the issue I’m having. I’ve been searching for hours and cant find anything remotely helpful. Any help would be greatly appreciated !
cameron peet …. back up your phone to itunes now before attempting anything further. after which, a factory reset and restore will solve the issue if it is a software problem. this is the best place to start. if it does not, it is hardware and will need to be troubleshooted. post back after reset for further assistance if needed.
