Chosen Solution

Hi I have an iPhone 7 that only charges when turned off. I have tried changing Tristar twice, Tigris once but still have the same issue. When plugging into a charging cable, ITunes recognizes it but does not show a charging symbol and no amps are drawn from a USB ammeter. However, when the phone is plugged in and turned off, the usb shows a power draw of about 1 amp. I have also changed Q2101. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

So you have replaced all the charging circuit. If this was happening to me I would remove the audio ic and run jumpers. The H12 and J12 pads are known to fail and they end up at tristar. I would also run a jumper from D12 to G12 that’s the SDRam pads and the trace between them is known to break, this also goes to the tristar chip. While you are running jumpers you might as well run the D12 one.

It sounds like the issue may be with the cable itself — have you tried other cables? Also, does your iPhone charge while powered on and connected to a wall outlet?

Hi! Did you find some solution to this problem? I’m experiencing the same situation.
