My PC wont turn on. The fans start for 5 seconds then lose power suddenly and then turn back on, and this cycle repeats endlessly. Help???

Hi @davebuster2494 Try resetting the BIOS back to default in case it has become corrupted for some reason, preventing a normal start. There are two ways to do this. First disconnect the power to the PSU and then open the PC case to gain access to the motherboard. You can now either: Use a screwdriver and short out the CLR_CMOS (Clear CMOS) Jumper on the motherboard for a few seconds to reset the BIOSRemove the RTC (Real Time Clock) coin cell battery from the motherboard and then press the Power On button for 30 seconds and the release it and then reinsert the battery (+ve on top as marked on battery) Then reconnect the power to the PSU and check if it turns on OK. I suggest that you try the 2nd method of removing the RTC battery as this will allow you to test the voltage of the battery when it is out. If the voltage is <2.5V DC replace it. This battery is used to maintain the settings in the BIOS and when the battery voltage starts to drop corruption of the BIOS can occur. Usually the battery model is a CR2032 battery (model number on battery itself) which is commonly available most everywhere e.g. supermarkets. Note: The battery is a non rechargeable Lithium coin cell which has a life of 4-6 years so if yours is within this age range I would replace it anyway. Sometimes when the PC is turned on again after having done the reset, there may be a message saying that the date and time are incorrect. This is normal as the BIOS has been reset. Once you correct the date and time the message won’t appear the next time the PC is started. Also if you have changed any user definable settings in BIOS to suit your particular operating requirements they will have to be changed again to what you had as they will be reset back to their default setting. Here’s the user manual for the motherboard. Go to p.25 and p.24 to see the location of the CLR-CMOS jumper and the RTC battery respectively.
