I’m trying to fix a 60’ Panasonic Plasma with vertical lines. I’ve already thoroughly cleaned all the ribbons, and replaced all three of the vertical control boards at the bottom of the unit, to no avail. Any suggestions on what to troubleshoot next, or of any board components I could bench test and replace myself, rather than buying more whole PCB’s?
Hi @breakbeatbuddha, Do you have Panasonic TC-P60ST30? If so here’s the service manual that may help. Be patient when going to download the manual as it takes a bit of time to go from processing to download (this is the actual download link) after you have passed the recaptcha test and clicked on Go to Download, below the document preview box. Go to p.21-22 to see how to check for local screen failures. The schematics near the end of the manual will help if you can track it down to a particular board. If it is not the above model number, apologies
@breakbeatbuddha … this is panel failure. Replacing the display would fix the issue but it is typically uneconomical to do so. If it were limited to just one bar, you could remove the back cover and bezzel around the tv to access the tvs tab drivers. here you would be able to see if you can finaggle an image to come back and the rig it with the similar pressure you applied to do so. The one with the color may come back but the fully black bars may be gone for good. tcon boards issues will only manifest on one side of the screen. your issue is 3/4 or better from the looks of it. i bet if you disconnect the tcon board, the blocks will still be present. you could try this and post back with your findings. your main board could cause colored bands, not black blocks, also there would be no image.
