TL;DR Water spilled across upper right side of laptop, only issue is WiFi/Bluetooth connectivity with a “hardware not installed” notice. ( Emphasis on that I am a college student in quarantine and this is the only computer at home lol) I just knocked over a small cup of water which spilled onto the upper right side of my laptop. I had a separate (non-Apple related) charger plugged into the USB port on that side as well. Immediately I forced quit on all apps open and shut it down. Following a bit of towel drying, I turned my laptop back on to see what was up. Fortunately, everything seemed to work! No display, keyboard, or trackpad damage; battery charged fine; and my ‘open at login’ apps, like Spotify, loaded and logged in as usual. I was able to access Google through Safari, and I went as far as typing a bit into the search bar just to ensure it pulled something up - which it did. I closed all apps following this and went back to towel drying. About 10 minutes later I noticed that my WiFi icon showed no WiFi/WiFi off (that hollow baseball field looking icon lol.) I restarted the laptop. Then it returned with a “no hardware installed” notice under the WiFi icon, which was now grey with an X. I’ve tried: Resetting the NVRAM and SMC Looking up the ‘ls -l /etc/sysctl.conf’ file in terminal, do not have it Safe mode Single user mode, sbin/fsck -fy And making the WiFi inactive to active again in the network settings If you have any advice on how to fix it if possible, what my options are, etc. I would be very thankful! All of my classes have been moved online, limited places are open right now due to quarantine, and this is the only computer in the house.
