I dont really know where to ask these questions but ill start here. I am attempting to reuse my old laptop screen as a new external monitor. I have bought the controller board from China as well as the hdmi to vga and power adapter. With everything plugged in the controller seems to be working as it detects that the hdmi to vga is connected to the computer and controller. However the laptop screen still remains dark. I am unsure whether it is a faulty controller on the video connector side or a fuse in the display itself and popped. Is there some connections I can test? Please help and thanks in advanced. Hi, When the panel is connected and an image is supposed to be displayed, can you see an image if you shine a torch at an angle close to the screen? It will be very faint if it is there. If it is there then there may be a problem with the backlighting in the screen, either the backlight power not being supplied to it or in the screen itself or a signal to say turn the backlight power on perhaps. Here’s a link to the datasheet for the panel, which may be of some help. Here’s an image taken from the datasheet showing the pin assignments for the 40 pin panel cable connector. You may wish to check that all the required voltages as shown on the pins are present first.
