I purchased a Macbook Air 2017 locally as a test unit to diagnose, advised it just turned off one day and wouldn’t come back on. Investigated it SMC reset etc nothing, no response. Out of interest tested the charger voltage (as didn’t have a spare) and noted no voltage, ordered a genuine replacement unit which arrived today, it worked as far as went green, then orange and the macbook turned on to the login page. Left it a little bit and the charger light has gone off and no sign off life again, voltage gone, replacement fuse does nothing. Any ideas were to look as through thermal I see nothing getting hot but what could be causing the macbook to be killing the charger? Don’t want to keep chucking £50 chargers at it if it kills them.

At this point there is only one part besides the charger which is the MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013-2017) I/O Board time to replace it.
