Chosen Solution
So after I replaced the display on my MI 8, the GPS is not working at all, everything else is fine (wifi and bluetooth as well). The new display came with the frame/housing as well, so I had to move the mainboard and all to the new one. One thing is interesting is that it looks the new frame is missing a few contact points. could this be the problem? How can it be solved? Photo:
btw, just to be sure, I moved back to the original frame + connected the new display, and this way the GPS is working fine. One solution would be to just take off the working LCD and apply to the original frame, but I’m afraid I’d broke the display while taking off… Thank you
i notice two other differences as well. Not sure how significant they are. But its safe to say some or all.of these differences are what is killing your GPS. I suppose rather than breaking your new display, can you take the contacts off the old case and put them in the new one?
I have the same issue on my device, tho I got mine in a used state and I dont know if the screen has been replaced (but I assume it is). Can you see where those contact pins are on the motherboard and add a small piece of tinfoil so they touch with the new frame?
