Chosen Solution
Hi, so I orded a new dock assembly for my iPhone from ebay because ifixit was sold out and I installed it tonight (what a fun ride that was….) but the speaker sounds terrible. Only way I can describe it is that it sounds very rumbly or screechy. The part looks exactly the same (all the same writing, apple and what not) as the one I took out so I think it’s a genuine part. My question is, do you think the part is faulty or do you think it’s not genuine part but a cheap rip off with a crapy speaker in it? This is the dock I bought, Dock assembly (EBAY) Thank You.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s fake… I see it’s shipping from Hong Kong, which I usually try to avoid.
Have the exactly same problem, did you find a solution?
I sent the part back and then never heard another thing, I sent them one e-mail and they replied saying that they never received it and since then I haven’t bothered to do anything. So is your problem the NEW part sounding terrible? One thing that did make it sound a bit better was taking the old rubber ring off the old one and put it on the new part but still sounded rubbish.
Yep, it´s the new part sounding terrible, mine also looks exactly like the original…Thanks for the tip. I also bought the new part from eBay, the store was from England and not Hong Kong though, but I guess they´re all imported from Hong Kong from the beginning anyway. Did email the store saying the part was broken so I´ll see what the reply will be… Cheers // Markus
